Fall 2014 Essentials

Fall is my favorite season by far.  The leaves change colors, Starbucks brings out their best lattes, there is pumpkin everything everywhere you go, and it's the season of new TV shows (have you seen How to Get Away with Murder OH MY GOD)! I'm also a huge sucker for Fall holidays (Halloween this year is gonna be craaaaaazayyyy) and the perks of decorating that come with them! In order to get through these chilly months, I have a few wardrobe/accessory essentials to keep me in the Fall spirit!

1. Markus Lupfer Smacker Sweater: If there is one thing I love, it's items of clothing with kisses on them! I have been seeing this trend everywhere, and trust me, I've been buying more than I should be. I love this sweater because it's cute yet comfy and will keep you stylish as you keep warm!

2. Kettlewell Infinity Scarf: The color of this scarf is "deep claret" and honestly that just makes me love it even more. The deep, purpley reds that come out in Fall are absolutely gorgeous, and I think this scarf as a pop of color with a gray sweater would like ravishing! Scarves a staple to every Fall wardrobe, and this scarf would be the perfect addition to any closet.

3. YSL Rouge Pur Shine Lipstick: Dark lips are a MUST for Fall! I literally count down the days to when it is acceptable to wear dark lipstick again.  This color is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon red (I'm a wine lush I know) and would complete any look with pizzazz.

4. Chloé  'The Marcie' Tote: I have been lusting over this bag for months. Gray is a top trend this season, and this bag makes such a bland color look good. It is just so chic and classic that I feel like it can never go out of style! So if you're looking for a bag that will last you for seasons to come, I recommend this one.

5. Frame Denim Skinny Jeans: The only jeans I wear are skinny jeans and these look like a great addition to my wardrobe. I love destroyed denim, but these have just enough distress to make them look effortlessly cool and not at all trashy. Black goes with everything, so of course black skinny jeans are a Fall staple! Plus I feel like half of One Direction may own a pair just like this...hmm...

6. Kate Spade Trench Coat: I LOVE COATS! I feel like that is why the colder months are the best -- you get to wear adorable outerwear! This Kate Spade coat would go with any look, day or night, because it has amazing details.  Look at that black lining... it gives such structure to an otherwise normal coat, and the pattern inside is so fun!

7. H&M Tights: What is a cold weather wardrobe without tights? Wearing them underneath a dress, a skirt, or Hell even leather shorts, can put any look together. Black is a must, but this time of year it is also acceptable to wear colorful tights, too (channeling Blair Waldorf anyone?).

8. Boohoo Penelope Floral Swing Dress: Dark florals are all the rage and I'm obsessed with them (groundbreaking). I do like this pattern more in dresses than anything else, because with tights and boots you have the perfect Fall look. But, I do think that a dark floral scarf or something would be cute, too, so just mix it up!

9. Alexander Wang Chelsea Boots: CHELSEA BOOTS! Need I say more?? These boots are the hottest thing in footwear since middle schoolers discovered Uggs. I love them. I want 400 pairs in every color. Being 5'9", I usually don't wear much of a heel because I'm already tall enough. But I rock these boots like an Amazonian woman because they are too good to pass up! Plus the heel isn't that high, it's the right size to make that perfect *clack* when you walk on hardwood. If you don't already own a pair of these buy some. RIGHT NOW OKAY?!

10. Kate Spade iPhone 6 Case: I had to put at least one item pertaining to the latest phone craze in here! I'm still in the past with my iPhone 5, but as soon as I fork over the money on the new iPhone I am also going to splurge on this case for it! I have a problem buying phone cases, but I know that this one will keep me happy throughout the season.

Ipsy Bag Review: September

Sorry for the lack of posts! I have been super busy with school, work, and a bunch of other adventures and have been completely neglecting my blog! To make up for it I promise I will go on a posting spree! Don't give up on me! ;)

It's time for another Ipsy bag review! This month's bag is a "Street Style" theme with different samples to help you prepare for Fall! If you don't know what Ipsy is, it's a website where for a monthly subscription of $10 you receive 5 deluxe samples of all the latest and hottest products tied into a specific theme for each month. It's a really good deal, especially when you get full-size products that are worth more than the bag itself! I have been a subscriber since September 2013 and must say, this is a great subscription for all you beauty lovers out there! If you're interested in subscribing to your own Ipsy bag, please click here!

September Glam Bag

Bag: I'm digging this bag.  The gunmetal color is so in for Fall, and I'm a real sucker for studs! It's very punk glam and chic. Perfect for traveling!

Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser: This product is okay. It doesn't really smell like anything, kind of just like clay.  I've been using it in the morning to wash my face after I wake up, and it hasn't done anything special.  It's definitely not the best face cleanser I've used, but it's also not the worst.

Crown Infinity Shadow/Crease Brush: I was so excited when I realized this was a duet brush! The top of the brush is for applying shadow, and the bottom brush is slimmer and perfect for when you don't want to over-color some areas.  I'm a firm believer that you can never have too many makeup brushes, and I'm happy to add this to my collection!

Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss: I hate this gloss.  It's a sin because the color is so pretty (it's a dark wine red), but the gloss itself applies thin and blotchy. If the product was slightly thicker I think I would love it because it's the perfect color for Fall, Such a shame it's a crappy product!

Pacifica Natural Water-proof Eye Pencil: I'm not a fan of waterproof eye products. It may just be me, but I can never get the damn product off my eyes without irritation! I much prefer products that will wipe off with ease when I'm done for the day.  That being said, I do enjoy the color of this eye pencil.  The silver is a great color to combine with purple eye shadow and I'm looking forward to playing around with it, though it may not be all that often.

Mitchell and Peach Luxury Hand Cream: This smells like the fragrance section of home good stores.  You know what I'm talking about? That one aisle that has so many bars of soap and candles and lotions that it smells like a flower garden threw up in it? Yeah, so each time I use this lotion I get a headache.  It's way too strong for everyday use, but maybe that's why it's "luxury." I don't know, I'm just going to stick to my pumpkin lotions this Fall (can you say Bath and Bodyworks sales?!).

Glam Bag Rating:
6/10 Why am I continuously disappointed with my bags? The only products I'm really going to use here are the brush and the eye pencil. What has happened to Ipsy? I used to get so excited whenever I got that pink packaging in the mail, and now I dread it. I just wish I was receiving products that I could not only use, but like to use!

Now, I have some sad news. I unsubscribed from my monthly Ipsy glam bag. I was just getting so disappointed and felt like what I was receiving was not worth $10. Now, that is not to say that I won't subscribe again in the future!  In fact, expect an upcoming review of a great steal I bought through Ipsy! I'm just going to sit back and take a break (but watch next month they'll give away Chanel or something). I'm considering subscribing to other monthly boxes, so please leave a comment below if you have any favorites!

Until next time my loves x.

Ipsy Bag Review: August

It's time for another Ipsy bag review! This month's bag is a "Beauty Schooled" theme with perfect size samples that you can throw in your backpack on your way to class! If you don't know what Ipsy is, it's a website where for a monthly subscription of $10 you receive 5 deluxe samples of all the latest and hottest products tied into a specific theme for each month. It's a really good deal, especially when you get full-size products that are worth more than the bag itself! August Glam Bag

Bag: I think this bag is adorable! I love the orange polka dots. It screams "back to school" to me and I think it looks just like a pencil case! If I don't use this bag to keep my makeup in, I will definitely use it for pens!

Pores No More Pore Refiner: I'm a huge fan of Dr. Brandt products. I have a microdermabrasion exfoliant from them and I love how it leaves my skin feeling soft.  That being said, I was excited to try this primer. I've used primers before, but the only one I've ever really liked was the Primed and Poreless by Too Faced. Bias aside, I do like this product. It leaves my skin feeling soft and my makeup does seem to stay on for longer. I'm debating on whether or not it's better than Too Faced, but my heart is telling me no.

Absolute Lip Balm: I want to marry this product. I received the green apple flavor and I want to bathe in it. It smells SO good! Imagine walking through an apple orchard -- that's what this product smells like. Plus the color is a gorgeous cherry red so it looks fabulous while hydrating my lips. Now I may be partial to EOS, but I think this lip balm is perfect when I want to add color to my lips as well as keep them from chapping. Rumor is it comes in bubblegum flavor...~swoon~

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara: Okay can I just say that the packaging for this mascara was ridiculous? It came in what looked like a perfume sample package and had all this hype about the product itself. Give me a break.  I think a brand like Urban Decay doesn't need to market themselves in a way so tacky...you're Urban Decay.. we know you're good. Anyway, this mascara seems average to me. My lashes looked a little clumpy after application, but other than that it didn't really stand out in a good or bad way.

Coastal Scents Forever Blush Sample Duo: This was bullshit. Pardon my French, but the sample was so small and stupid that I couldn't even apply it to my cheeks, only use my finger to see the color on the back of my hand. How am I expected to try a sample when my brush won't even fit in the packaging? This product was a joke and honestly I threw it out due to my frustration (oops).

Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil: I dig this eyeliner.  My old Urban Decay liner that I kept in my travel make-up bag actually just broke in half (heartbreaking) so this is the perfect replacement! It goes on smooth and is the perfect travel size. I've never heard of this brand, but I can already tell they will soon be a favorite.

Glam Bag Rating....

7/10 I'm not as pleased with this bag as I've been in the past, but I did get a few great products that I know I'll be using for as long as they last. I just wish that the blush sample was bigger and had one color instead of two, that way it would have been MUCH easier for me to use my brush to apply it. Overall, the bag is adorable, the lip balm smells like heaven, and the eyeliner is a great replacement from my old one. I'm crossing my fingers that next month's bag is better!

Ipsy Bag Review: July

There is nothing more exciting than receiving my monthly subscription of my Ipsy glam bag! If you don't know what Ipsy is, it's a website where for a monthly subscription of $10 you receive 5 deluxe samples of all the latest and hottest products tied into a specific theme for each month. It's a really good deal, especially when you get full-size products that are worth more than the bag itself! July Ipsy Glam Bag

Bag: Gotta say, this is one of the cutest bags I've received thus far! I'm such a girly girl, and the hot pink and frill on this bag makes me want to shove it in my purse and never let it go. And it's the perfect size to keep in my purse, or my gym bag, or my desk at work!  That's one thing I love about Ipsy bags: they are a great travel size.  I can fit a mirror, mascara, eyeliner, lipstick, and my nail file all with room to spare!

Pixi Beauty Mini Tinted Brilliance Balm: Apparently this is a tinted lip balm, but my color is such a light pink that I can't really tell any change in color on my lips. I like this because it's very minty, and each time I use it I feel like I have fresher breath.  The sample itself is rather small, but I feel like this may be an advantage because then I can just throw it in my purse and use it when needed throughout the day to moisturize my lips. I don't really have any complaints about this product, but I also don't have any praise for it either.

Models Own Nail Polish in Red Sea: I hate this nail polish. Despise it. It looks like a kindergartner throw up his crayons on my nails. I do not know a girl my age, or any age above 10 for that matter, who would willingly buy this nail polish color. The red itself is sort of translucent, and throughout the color is large chunks of tacky multi-colored glitter. This causes the application of the product to not be as smooth as it could be. It's a full-size product but I mean, come on, this is not an ice skating competition.

bareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow: Could this sample be any smaller? I will barely be able to get five uses out of this tube. It kind of reminds me of the Urban Decay primer potions because it is too light to be an actual color for me, but it is a great base. I don't really use cream eyeshadows by themselves because I feel like they crease too easily. As a base, however, this has worked fairly well for me the one time I've used it.  I guess that this also has SPF 15 but that weirds me out because who wears sunscreen eyeshadow?!

Pur~lisse Pur~Protect Essential Daily Moisturizer: I really like this product.  At first I was afraid because my skin is very sensitive to creams, but this has not done any harm to my skin. It is very light and clean when applied and doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy. I also love that it smells like sunscreen because it reminds me of poolside escapades.  The sun protection is SPF 30, which I think is really good for a moisturizer. This sample was a definite win!

Clear Clinic Laboratories Vanished Clear Spot Treatment: Ever since I started taking the vitamin biotin, I've noticed more acne on my face than usual. Everyday I use a charcoal cleanser and a toner, but this spot treatment is the perfect last step to put on my pimples before bed! Warning: it burns after application. If you have very sensitive skin, I would not recommend you try this treatment.  That being said, if you're tough as nails like me (hah!) I would definitely look into this product.  I've noticed a significance difference in size of my pimples after daily use of this spot treatment. The label reads you can use this up to three times daily, but even just applying once before bed has done wonders for my skin. It's a shame the sample is so small!

Glam Bag Rating....

6/10 This has definitely not been the best Ipsy glam bag I've received, but I know that I will get significant usage out of the samples (except that nail polish). I think the bag itself is adorable, but the product sizes could have been bigger and the theme of the bag could have been tied together more. It was called "Sensationally Sunkissed," so maybe a bronzer or fun eye shadow palette would have been better! And for heaven's sake, a nail polish that is actually CUTE!
